Power meter configurator

Answer the questions and the tool assembles the Accuenergy Acuvim-L configuration: part number, communication module and a summary ready to add to your quote request. When unsure, choose “Choose for me” — Onyx M3 decides. No prices here: the official quote sets pricing.

1 The power meter

Power meter accuracy. CL (class 0.5) suits compressed-air audits. Choose EL (class 0.2, more precise and pricier) only if resale-grade billing requires it.

Installation type. “D”: a display unit that mounts on a panel (most common). “M”: a DIN-rail module without a screen (a remote display is still available).

Current sensor type. Rogowski coils (333 mV) install in minutes without cutting power — ideal for air audits. Choose 5 A/1 A if classic current transformers are already in place.

How your supply is wired. Most plants are three-phase 4-wire wye (3 sensors). When unsure, compare with the diagrams below.

Also measures neutral current (a 4th sensor). Useful on some 4-wire installations; otherwise leave “No”.

How many points do you want to track? Plan one power meter per compressor (or per feeder) to measure.

Voltage powering the power meter itself. P1V4 (100–415 Vac) covers almost all cases. Choose P2V4 (20–60 Vdc) only if your control gear runs on low-voltage DC.

Adds a seal for protected/official metering. Usually “No”.

2 Communication and data

A SCADA is a system that supervises and collects your plant data. If you don’t have one, Onyx provides a turnkey dashboard (see the blue box below).

If applicable, give the name (e.g. Ignition, Wonderware, Citect). It helps us prepare the integration.

The “language” your SCADA exchanges with the power meter. If you don’t know it, choose “Choose for me” — we’ll confirm with your integrator.

How the power meter connects to the network. Wi-Fi or an RJ-45 network cable suit most sites; optical fiber for long runs or electrically noisy environments. This choice sets the communication module.

How often readings are recorded. 1 minute matches Hydro-Québec audits. A faster rate increases data volume.

How long Onyx M3 keeps the raw audit data. 5 years is recommended for Hydro-Québec audits.

Do you have an on-site server to keep the data? Otherwise, Onyx hosts it securely.

In a few words, how do you manage your data today? (optional — any detail helps.)

No SCADA? Onyx M3 provides a secure dashboard (TLS + authentication) and retains your raw audit data.

3 Options and mounting

Would you like it all assembled in an enclosure, wired and ready to install (Onyx option, IP66/NEMA4X)? Otherwise you install the power meter yourself.

A remote screen to read values without opening the cabinet. Relevant mainly with the “M” mounting (no built-in display).

Recommended by Onyx M3 to program the power meters. Model: D-Tech USB2 to RS-485.

4 Monitoring and remote access

Receive remote alerts (threshold breaches, faults). Pick the channels below.

Check the desired alarm channels.

Start/stop compressors remotely. Available, but not recommended by Onyx M3 (safety concerns).

How many people will access the dashboard remotely?
